Press Release - Gold Coast Marathon - 1/17/23

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Statement From Paul Donovan AM - Chair

                Events Management Queensland CEO Resigns

Events Management Queensland Chairman, Mr Paul Donovan AM today announced
that the company's CEO, Cameron Hart has voluntarily resigned after more
than 25 years in the role.

In making the announcement, Mr Donovan noted the significant contributions
Mr Hart has made to the sports and event industry.

"Over many years Cam has shown he is one of the most skilled sports event
managers in the country evidenced through his leadership in building the
Gold Coast Marathon and Pan Pacific Masters Games into truly world class
events, and the best examples of sports event tourism.

"While my preference is that Cam was not leaving the organisation, I fully
support his decision.

"Cam has invested more than 25 years in Events Management Queensland and 30
plus years in the sport and major events business. His resignation is a
great loss to our company and to the Queensland and Gold Coast event
industry," Mr Donovan added.

"During my tenure as Chair, I have always had confidence in Cam's ability
which saw him guide the organisation through the most difficult of
circumstances from 2020 to 2023.

His outstanding leadership together with the current staff and board
structure sees our major events in very strong positions," Mr Donovan
concluded.

Mr Hart said he was extremely thankful for the confidence and support
successive boards had given him over more than two decades to lead the
company and team responsible for two of Australia's leading sports events.

"I love my job, the people I have worked with and met, and the events we
have produced.

"After experiencing the pandemic induced hardships of 2020 and 2021, seeing
both the Pan Pacific Masters Games and Gold Coast Marathon being
successfully delivered once again in 2022 has been incredibly rewarding" Mr
Hart said.

"I know now is the right time for me to move on and I hope to be making new
contributions to an industry I love at a later date.

"I might even end up running in the marathon now," he said.

Mr Donovan said Cam will continue in the role until March, during which
time they will work closely together and with the board and the team to
transition to a new management structure to guide the company and its
events through 2023 and beyond.

"I am having ongoing discussions with Cam to see where he can still
contribute with his wealth of knowledge to our industry in some form in the
future," said Mr Donovan.

Events Management Queensland is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tourism and
Events Queensland, a Queensland Government Corporation.
