                COLUMBUS MARATHON OPENS ONLINE REGISTRATION
Relay cap is instituted for first time in event history

(COLUMBUS, OH) – Registration for the Columbus Marathon, on October 16, is
now open to runners, walkers and wheelchair racers at
www.columbusmarathon.com for the full marathon or 2 and 3-person relay.
Registering early this year is more important than ever as the event is
capping the 2 and 3-person relay divisions at a combined 850 teams.

The flat and fast, cloverleaf shaped course begins in downtown Columbus but
winds through five of the cities neighborhoods before finishing downhill in
the Nationwide Arena District.

The road to the Boston definitely runs through Columbus as the Columbus
Marathon has the second highest number of Boston Marathon qualifiers (per
capita) every year. In fact, from the 2004 Columbus Marathon, 18.3 percent
of the field qualified for the Boston Marathon.

Entry into the Columbus Marathon guarantees each participant entry into the
event, an official Columbus Marathon participant shirt, finisher’s medal,
finisher’s certificate, an official results program, refreshments on the
course, post-race refreshments and entrance into the Commit to be Fit
Health and Fitness Expo presented by WOW! Internet and Cable on October 14
and 15.

The Columbus Marathon is presented by Nationwide Insurance and supported by
WOW! Internet and Cable and Delta Airlines. This year’s race will feature
more than 6,000 marathon runners, walkers and wheelchair racers; 850 relay
teams; 2,000 volunteers, 100,000 spectators and sponsored neighborhood
parties and on-course entertainment. For more information on the Columbus
Marathon, visit www.columbusmarathon.com or call (614) 421-RUNN. Printed
entry forms will be available in April.
