William A. Irvin 5K Registration Opens March 13
June 20 Field Capped at 2,000
(Duluth, Minn.) Registration for the 21st annual William A. Irvin 5K opens
at 12:01 a.m. (CDT) on Thursday, March 13.
The field limit for the 2014 race is 2,000 - an increase of 100 from last
year when capacity was reached on April 25. To register, runners should
visit www.GrandmasMarathon.com beginning March 13. The entry fee of $30
remains unchanged from a year ago.
The 3.1-mile run begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 20, near the permanently
docked William A. Irvin ore boat on Duluth's waterfront and is the kickoff
for running events during Grandma's Marathon weekend.
Registration remains open for the 38th annual Grandma's Marathon set for
Saturday, June 21. The final entry fee increase occurs April 1 when the
current $95 fee rises to $110, where it will remain until registration
closes May 31.
Despite the lottery entry process for the 24th annual Garry Bjorklund Half
Marathon being closed, there are a limited number of spots available
through the race's four charity partners. For more information, visit

Runners and race fans from around the world will participate in the 38th
annual Grandma's Marathon weekend, which is presented by Toyota and Wells
