REGISTRATION FOR THE 2004 GRANDMA’S MARATHON IS CLOSED
Duluth, MN: Registration for the 28th annual Grandma’s Marathon scheduled
for Saturday, June 19, 2004 is officially closed, and applications are no
longer being taken. The race was limited to 9,000 participants and
applications were accepted on a first come first serve basis.
“We’re proud that Grandma's Marathon continues to be a race that runners
from all over the world choose, and we’re looking forward to providing them
with the best experience possible,” says Scott Keenan, executive director
of Grandma's Marathon.
Confirmation cards will be sent to registered participants within six
weeks. The quickest way to verify the acceptance of an entry is to see if
the check written for the entry fee cleared the bank. Checks for entries
that were not accepted will be returned to the applicant during the next
two weeks.
The Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and the William A. Irvin 5K offer
additional racing opportunities for runners during Grandma’s Marathon
weekend. In all, over 16,000 people from across the globe are expected to
participate in the three races.
Applications for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon will be mailed during
the fourth week in February to those who have requested one. Forms for the
William A. Irvin 5K will be available in late-March. Those interested in
receiving an entry form for either race should send a note of request and a
self-addressed, stamped, #10 business size envelope to Grandma’s Marathon –
