Grandma's Marathon Registration Update
Less Than 2,600 Spots Remain
(Duluth, Minn.) The field for the 2008 Grandma's Marathon is nearly
three-fourths full. Since registration opened eight days ago, 6,900 runners
have signed up for the event's 32nd annual running. The race was half full
within the first 24 hours after online registration opened Jan. 17.
The marathon field has reached its capacity for 13 consecutive years and is
limited to the first 9,500 participants. The 2008 registration process has
been converted to an online format so runners looking to secure one of the
remaining 2,600 spots should visit www.GrandmasMarathon.com.
Grandma's Marathon weekend also features the 18th annual Garry Bjorklund
Half Marathon and the 15th annual William A. Irvin 5K. Registration for
those two events will begin in February and March, respectively. The Garry
Bjorklund Half Marathon is Saturday, June 21 at 6:30 a.m. and the William
A. Irvin 5K is Friday, June 20 at 6 p.m.
In all, more than 17,000 runners and 50,000 race fans from around the world
will participate in the 32nd annual Grandma's Marathon weekend, which is
presented by Target, Toyota and Wells Fargo Bank Duluth.
