Rudy Perpich Public Service Award Recipients Announced
Duluth, Minn.) Grandma's Marathon has announced the recipients of the 2012
Rudy Perpich Public Service Award.
St. Louis County acting sign supervisor Steve Anderson, former City of
Duluth Mayor Gary Doty and retired city of Duluth traffic engineering
specialist Paul Scanlan will be recognized for their contributions to
Grandma's Marathon at an award ceremony and breakfast Thursday, June 14 at
7 a.m. at Duluth's Radisson Hotel.
Named after the late Minnesota governor who was a large supporter of the
annual event, the award is given annually to up to three current or former
public employees or elected officials. In 2006, Grandma's Marathon created
the Rudy Perpich Public Service Award to recognize the many current or
former public employees and elected officials who have exhibited dedication
and service to the event.
The 7th annual Rudy Perpich Public Service Award Breakfast is the first of
many events being held during Grandma's Marathon weekend. The Essentia
Health Fitness & Health Expo begins at 5 p.m. June 14 and continues all day
Friday, June 15. Other Friday events include the Michelina's
All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner, the Whipper Snapper Races for Kids, guest
speaking presentations, the William A. Irvin 5K and live entertainment in
Canal Park.
The USA Half Marathon Championships, Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and
Grandma's Marathon are Saturday, June 16. For more information, visit
