William A. Irvin 5K Registration Opens Thursday
June 21 Field Capped at 1,900
(Duluth, Minn.) Registration for the 20th annual William A. Irvin 5K opens
at 12:01 a.m. (CDT) on Thursday, March 14.
The field limit for the 2013 race is 1,900 — the same as last year when
capacity was reached on April 30. To register, runners should visit
www.GrandmasMarathon.com beginning Thursday. The entry fee of $30 remains
unchanged from a year ago.
The 3.1-mile run begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 21, near the permanently
docked William A. Irvin ore boat on Duluth's waterfront and is the kickoff
for running events during Grandma's Marathon weekend. Registration remains
open for the 37th annual Grandma's Marathon set for Saturday, June 22,
while the entry process for the 23rd annual Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon
is closed.
Runners and race fans from around the world will participate in the 37th
annual Grandma's Marathon weekend, which is presented by Toyota and Wells
Fargo. Also part of race weekend for the second straight year is the USA
Half Marathon Championships, featuring an $82,000 purse for the top half
marathoners in the country.
