Lord Coe named as the official starter of the
2020 Virgin Money London Marathon
The President of World Athletics Lord Sebastian Coe will start the elite
men's and women's races at the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday
4 October.
Lord Coe, who ran the London Marathon in 1991, will be starting the race

2006 and 2008.
The two-time Olympic champion ran just under three hours in his one and

He set 12 middle-distance world records during a glittering track career
and headed London's successful campaign to stage the Olympics in 2012.
The official starter of the Virgin Money London Marathon elite wheelchair
race is David Duffy, Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Money.
The start times for the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon elite races are:
- 07:15 – Elite women
- 10:15 – Elite men
- 13:12 – Men's and women's wheelchair race
The races will be held in a biosecure bubble around St James's Park in
central London with the traditional finish on The Mall. As well as the
three elite races, 45,000 people around the world will be taking on the
2020 Virgin Money London Marathon 'Your Way', running the 26.2 miles
wherever they are around the world.
More than 150,000 primary school children are also taking part in the
Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon, where pupils will run 2.6 miles
between Monday 28 September and Friday 9 October.
