2014 TCS New York City Marathon to Feature
Wide Variety of Sponsor Activities and Events
Premier Partner Tata Consultancy Services to be joined by Airbnb, ASICS,
United Airlines, and other global brands and local businesses to celebrate
the world's biggest marathon with interactive programs and experiences for
runners, volunteers, and fans
New York, October 28, 2014-New York Road Runners (NYRR) and its partners
will present a series of unique activities and events around the 2014 TCS
New York City Marathon that will engage runners, volunteers, and fans,
ultimately enhancing the race experience. Complementing these official
partner activities featured throughout the 26.2-mile, five-borough race
course during Race Week and on Race Day on Sunday, November 2, local
businesses will offer special deals and discounts on Race Day on and off
the course as part of the Run the City retail incentive program.
"With 50,000 runners, 10,000 volunteers, and countless spectators along the
course and watching from home, the TCS New York City Marathon is so much
more than just a race," said John Gassner, Vice President, Business
Development and Strategic Partnerships at New York Road Runners. "We are
grateful to our partners for their support in presenting exciting,
participatory programming that brings the energy and spirit of the Marathon
to life."
Run the City, NYRR's retail incentive program, will feature more than 150
deals and discounts from local shops and restaurants on Race Day for
runners and their friends, families, and fans. The program highlights some
of New York City's iconic attractions and supports local businesses and

The TCS New York City Marathon will air live in New York on ABC7 and
nationally on ESPN2 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EST. The race will also be
available via WatchESPN on computers, tablets, smartphones, Amazon Fire TV,
Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One for those who have video
subscriptions from affiliated providers. Additionally, the race will be
available in Spanish via ESPN Deportes+. Pre- and post-race coverage will
be carried on ESPN's live multi-screen sports network ESPN3 from 7:00 to
9:00 a.m. EST and from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. EST. ESPN3 will also present a
view of the finish line from 9:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The race will be broadcast
live in the New York City metropolitan area on WABC-TV from 9:00 a.m. to
2:00 p.m. EST. Viewers can also watch race day coverage on 7online or via
WatchABC on mobile devices (for participating cable providers). Pre-race
features from the start at Fort Wadsworth will be broadcast live at 7:00
a.m. on WABC-TV, 7online.com, and WatchABC. A national compilation show
will air from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on local ABC affiliates. International
viewers can watch the broadcast from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. EST via a
variety of global broadcast partners (international viewers should check
local listings).

The 2014 TCS New York City Marathon Mobile App Powered by Tata Consultancy
Services allows users to easily track runners, create their own
personalized Race Week schedules, and navigate Race Week events. New
features include dynamic landing pages, tray navigation, runner
tracking/predicted finish time, customized leaderboard viewing, enhanced
spectator map, and marathon stats.
Other Tata Consultancy Services technology enhancements for the event
include a race predictor and a variety of data visualization platforms that
will be available online, at the TCS New York City Marathon Health &
Fitness Expo, at the Marathon Lounge (presented by Tata Consultancy
Services) at Time Warner Center, and along the course on Race Day.
Tata Consultancy Services is the presenting sponsor of the Blue Line
Lounge, a VIP hospitality area in Central Park at the finish line near
Tavern on the Green, which will feature a 9' x 30' screen with maps, runner
information, and additional visuals aimed at providing the public with
insightful, interesting facts about the race.
The Marathon Lounge (presented by Tata Consultancy Services) at the Time
Warner Center is open to the public Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (October
31–November 2). It will offer a spectacular on-screen viewing of the TV
broadcast, and Tata Consultancy Services will provide information, cell
phone charging stations, and interactive activities. Lastly, TCS has 400
runners (clients and employees) and 315 volunteers supporting all race
participants at water stations across the course.

Activation
Airbnb will host spectators and cheer on runners in Brooklyn (Fourth Avenue
and Flatbush), Queens (48th Street and Vernon), Harlem (Marcus Garvey Park
South), and Manhattan (Central Park South). At each of these locations,
spectators can enjoy live entertainment, local giveaways, photo
opportunities, and sign-making stations, and cheer on their favorite
runners.

Activation
ASICS "Pace Your Race" program will allow runners to print a custom
official pace band of the TCS New York City Marathon. Runners can print
bands at the ASICS Expo brand booth at the Jacob K. Javits Convention
Center, ASICS stores (ASICS Meatpacking and ASICS 42nd Street), and outside
Tavern on the Green (67th Street and Central Park West).
The ASICS "We Are Marathoners" program gave 500 runners the opportunity to
get a miniature 3D statue of themselves via a promotion on Facebook. When
these runners cross the designated timing mat along the course at miles 8,
15, and 24, a photo of their statue in that location will be posted on
their Facebook page. Supplies are limited.

Activation
United Airlines will once again be the presenting sponsor of the TCS New
York City Marathon Opening Ceremonies. Marathoners and guests from around
the world will join together on Friday, October 31, for a spectacular
international celebration of the diversity of the TCS New York City
Marathon. The Opening Ceremonies begin at 5:30 p.m. at the finish line in
Central Park and will conclude with a fireworks display presented by Poland
Spring.
Spectators can also stop by United Airlines' four entertainment zones along
the course, including the Columbus Circle entertainment stage.

Activation
TAG Heuer will reveal the winners of the online TCS New York City Marathon
Get Your New York On Challenge on a billboard at a live event in Times
Square on Saturday, November 1. The online contest asked runners in North
America to submit a story about why they are running the TCS New York City
Marathon. The reveal will be at 10:30 a.m. in Times Square and will
include participation by (ABC) celebrity judges.
TAG Heuer will also present a TAG Heuer timepiece to the top male and
female in both the professional overall and wheelchair fields.

Activation
The Samuel Rudin Trophy will be presented to the top three overall male and
female runners and top professional wheelchair athletes in the TCS New York
City Marathon. The Lewis and Jack Rudin Award will be presented to the
highest NY male and female fundraisers for NYRR's Youth Services program,
Team for Kids.
About the TCS New York City Marathon
The TCS New York City Marathon is the most popular and inclusive marathon
