New York, February 12, 2015-The application for entry to the 2015 TCS New
York City Marathon will close on Sunday, February 15, at 11:59 p.m. EST.
Those who wish to apply should visit the TCS New York City Marathon
website, tcsnycmarathon.org. The race, which is the premier event of New
York Road Runners and the largest marathon in the world, will take place on
Sunday, November 1.
Runners who earned guaranteed entry can claim their spot during the
month-long application window. Information regarding guaranteed entry is
available online at tcsnycmarathon.org.
Non-guaranteed entry is gained through a drawing that brings together
runners of all skill levels from around the world. The non-guaranteed
applicant drawing will be held on March 3, 2015. The non-guaranteed entry
process helps preserve the unparalleled diversity of the race and will
include three simultaneous drawings covering "NYC-metro area" applicants
(i.e., residents in and within 60 miles of New York City), "National"
applicants (i.e., United States residents outside of the NYC-metro area)
and "International" applicants (i.e., non-United States residents,
including Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories).
Runners can also receive a guaranteed spot in the race by running for
NYRR's Team for Kids. Team for Kids is a committed group of adult runners
from around the world who add meaning to their miles by raising funds for
NYRR's Youth and Community Services programs. More than 200,000 students
are served locally and nationally through NYRR's free youth running
programs, events, and resources, including more than 120,000 in New York
City's five boroughs. During the 2014 TCS New York City Marathon, the Team
for Kids charity was led by Team for Kids Ambassador and tennis star
Caroline Wozniacki, who, in her first-ever marathon, supported and raised
funds for the charity running team. Information on guaranteed entry through
NYRR's Team for Kids is available online at runwithtfk.org.
The 2015 TCS New York City Marathon will feature the world's top
professional athletes and a vast range of competitive, recreational, and
charity runners, as well as thousands of volunteers and more than one
million neighbors and guests lining the streets of New York City's five
boroughs. The race will once again air live in New York on ABC7 and
nationally on ESPN2.
