Increased Number of Runners to be Accepted through Entry Drawing on
March 3 for 2015 TCS New York City Marathon
14,326 runners will be selected from 80,080 applications for entry into the
race, an increase of more than 50% from 2014
The 45th running of the iconic five-borough race will take place on Sunday,
November 1, 2015
New York, March 2, 2015-The 2015 TCS New York City Marathon application
drawing will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, March 3. The drawing will
feature a significant increase in the number of runners accepted. 14,326
runners will be selected from 80,080 non-guaranteed runner applications and
will be granted entry into this year's race on Sunday, November 1, 2015.
The number of runners that will be accepted in tomorrow's drawing reflects
a 56% increase over 2014 (14,326 accepted in 2015 vs. 9,170 accepted in
2014). A total of 18% of the non-guaranteed runner entries will be accepted
through the drawing (14,326 accepted out of 80,080 non-guaranteed
applicants).
Nearly 130,000 applications will make up this year's combined field of
guaranteed and non-guaranteed entries, featuring runners from over 100
countries around the world. Runners received guaranteed entry through a
variety of methods, which are detailed here . The application period for
all entrants was open for one month, from January 15 through February 15.
The overall field size of the 2015 TCS New York City Marathon is expected
to be similar to last year's, with about 50,000 participants.

The drawing will begin tomorrow morning, and all applicants will be
notified of their status via email by the end of the day. More information

Runners who were not selected via the drawing tomorrow can still receive
entry by fundraising with one of the official charity partners of the TCS
New York City Marathon. The official charity partner program will launch
tomorrow, Tuesday, March 3.
The 2015 TCS New York City Marathon will feature a talented American and
international professional athlete field, charity runners, and thousands of
runners of all ages and abilities. More than 10,000 volunteers support
participants across the 26.2-mile race route, which touches each of New
York City's five boroughs and is lined with more than one million
spectators. The 2015 TCS New York City Marathon will be broadcast live
locally on ABC7 and nationally on ESPN2.
