TWIN CITIES MARATHON, INC. PROMOTES BRIAN MASTEL TO RACE DIRECTOR
Development of new events will be major addition
to Mastel's race responsibilities
(Minneapolis, MN) – Twin Cities Marathon, Inc. (TCM, Inc.) today announced
the promotion of Brian Mastel as Race Director. Mastel joined TCM, Inc. in
April, 2004 as Race Operations Manager.
"Brian's leadership, knowledge and experience continue to be an invaluable
asset to the marathon," said TCM, Inc. executive director Virginia Brophy
Achman. "His familiarity with the national and local running community as
well as his attention to and awareness of the needs and safety of the
runner will be well utilized as we continue to grow and add to the events
we offer throughout the year. We are proud to have Brian on staff and look
forward to his continued contributions.
As Race Director, Mastel will oversee the growth of new events at TCM, Inc.
as well as continue to manage the logistics and operations of the Medtronic
Twin Cities Marathon race weekend and all other events throughout the year.
"I'm thrilled to be given the opportunity to be a part of the growth at
TCM, Inc," said Mastel. Upon joining TCM, Inc., Mastel said he was tasked
with creating an off-season event, out of which evolved the Medtronic TC 1
Mile. "Initially, the idea was modeled after the Pearl Street Mile in
Boulder, CO, and was something I'd thought about for nearly 10 years. Our
goal is to turn it into the biggest one mile road race in the country."
Registration for the 4th annual Medtronic TC 1 Mile opens March 13, and
takes to the streets of downtown Minneapolis May 8.
