Safety and Security Procedures Set for Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon
Twin Cities In Motion, Public Safety Agencies Partner for Planning
St. Paul, Minn. – September 12, 2013 – In an effort to ensure the safety
of this year's Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend participants, event
organizers are advising race attendees to expect additions to the event's
security and safety procedures.
Participants and spectators are discouraged from bringing bags and
backpacks to the event. Any bags carried in proximity to the course or
start and finish areas will be subject to search. Event attendees will
notice signage warning against leaving bags unattended at the event (see
below for examples).
The event's safety and security plan is reviewed annually in partnership
with federal, state, and local agencies who meet throughout the year. The
plan builds upon the event's comprehensive plan, which was created more
than a decade ago to provide round-the-clock security and is updated every
year. The safety and security of participants, spectators, and volunteers
has always been Twin Cities In Motion's top priority.
