Race Officials Expect Registration to Close Within Days

Minneapolis, Minn.- July 13, 2001 - The TC 10 Mile Run (TC10), held in
conjunction with the Twin Cities Marathon (TCM), will open race registration
on Wednesday, July 18. Sunday, October 7 will mark the 3rd annual running
of the TC10. The timed 10 mile course begins near the Hubert H. Humphrey
Metrodome in Minneapolis and finishes at the State Capitol in St. Paul.
The race is affectionately known as the "Shortcut to the Capitol."

Registration for the TC10 is on a first come, first serve basis. The
registration field of 2,500 is expected to fill within days. Last year,
registration filled within 3 days. With the anticipation of the early
closure, runners are encouraged to register early. Runners can either
download a registration form on the TCM’s website at
www.twincitiesmarathon.org or pick one up at local Twin Cities running
stores, health clubs or the TCM office beginning Wednesday, July 18.

Forms will be accepted by U.S. mail only, and completed registrations must
be postmarked no sooner than Wednesday, July 18. No walk-ins, faxes,
special delivery services, or phone calls will be accepted. For more
information, please call the TCM office at 612-925-3500 or visit the
website: www.twincitiesmarathon.org.

"The TC10 provides runners of all ages and abilities a course that is scenic
and challenging," said Dan Finanger, TCM Executive Director. "After
finishing, they also have the opportunity of going back on the course to
watch and support the 8,500 marathon runners as they finish."

Star Tribune is the presenting sponsor of the TC10 for the third year.
Joining their sponsorship team is the Running Room, a major TC10 sponsor.
The Running Room is opening its first U.S. running specialty store in
Minneapolis on July 19. They will be hosting a training clinic for the
TC10, which will begin on July 28 at the store in Uptown at 2801 Hennepin
Avenue South, Minneapolis. The Running Room is an Alberta company with 42
stores throughout Canada.

Twin Cities Marathon continues its 10th consecutive year as the designated
USATF National Masters Championship for men and women. In addition to the
marathon, the Twin Cities Marathon features a three-day weekend celebration
of fitness, including a Saturday 5K Fun Run/Walk and children’s fun runs, a
pasta dinner, a two-day Health and Fitness Expo and a 10 mile race on
Sunday. Major sponsors for the 2001 marathon are Cub and the Calhoun Beach
