Decent race with potential. Beautiful area to run. The course would be better if the whole race was run along the Colorado River. Better organization and more water stations would help, too. It seemed that most of the efforts were directed towards staging the 20K and not the marathon. All in all, a fair beginning with lots of room for improvement.

Well the course appeared to be mostly downhill. And that was true for the first half. Problem was the downhill was so steep it did more harm than good. And the last half was quite a bit uphill as well.

No fruit or gel shots for the entire course! All they had was water and Powerade. Had I known this before I left I would have packed my own goods. You'd think the organizer could drop a dollar or two per runner for some oranges or something.

Almost no spectators, but that is to be expected for a first marathon that had so few competitors.
