"Wonderful course" (about: 2007)

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 This was my 3rd marathon - not as a runner, but as a walker. The course was beautiful. The only problem is that at the end of the course it was very difficult to know which way the course went because most of the race crew had already left the course, even though the course was technically open for 7 hours. Other than that, I would do this marathon again.

"great course, great support" (about: 2007)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I loved this course. The canal towpath was easy on the feet and pretty too. I liked that part very much. The first part of the race was shady and lazy downhill street with old houses and greenway. The water stops were frequent, crowded with volunteers. The road crossings were well managed by the police even when I was the only one needing to cross. My only critical comment would be to change the location of the entry to the medical area to provide easier access. I would run this one again.

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 The Arthritis Foundation did an outstandidng job!!!! I was on a new relay team this year and the other members thought this was the best relay they have ever done. We drove to the drop-off spots and enjoyed the fans and the sights as well.

"Great run along the quiet Erie Canal" (about: 2007)
11-50 previous marathons
| 1 Rochester Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I finished my first Rochester Marathon in my average time; however, the marathon was well above average. Some runners complained about the long Erie Canal section but I liked it very much Green, quiet and free of any traffic. The event was very well organized, from the start to the finish line and afterwards. Highly recommended to anyone who likes medium-size runs.

"excellent race" (about: 2007)
6-10 previous marathons
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 I ran the half marathon and a friend ran the full.... It was a very well organized race, the finish line festivities were great (live music, good food - pizza, soup, pretzels, energy bars, plenty of Accelerade - the announcer at the finish line announcing names and facts about the finishers was awesome, especially for a half marathoner watching the marathoners finish), the logistics (bag pick up, bus to start (good signage) etc.) went smoothly, it is a great course for a PR (very flat) and of course the weather this year was perfect. Running along the canal path was great (only about 5 miles for the half marathoners, much longer for the marathoners). One suggestion: as a half marathoner, I received the same medal as the marathoners and relay participants (the ribbon was a different color) and I don't feel as if I deserve a medal that says, "marathon" on it if I didn't run the marathon. Perhaps there could be different medals for each category, as opposed to the same medal and different ribbons. Great race! Will highly recommend it.

"Great Course, great weather, expectional" (about: 2007)
11-50 previous marathons
| 2 Rochester Marathons
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 The weather was perfect for the race. There were plenty of water stops (especially between miles 18 and 24 where I really needed it). The spectators were great. One group had filled milk jugs with coins and shook them as I ran through - very cool. And the woman announcing my name as I approached the finish had tireless enthusiasm. Everyone associated with this event deserves my sincere thanks.

"There was good and there was bad" (about: 2007)
11-50 previous marathons
| 2 Rochester Marathons
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 2 FANS: 4 First the good: This course is truly fantastic. This was my second Rochester Marathon and I love, love, love the course. Mildly challenging, but great scenery. Weather was picture perfect. Now for the bad: The race changed the logistics of this and the expo location was not convenient to the host hotel and no real place to park, and we were told for the first time, the week before the race, in an e-newsletter (the one you usually delete), that chip pickup could only occur the morning of the race. That would be okay if the location of the pickup was at the starting line. But it wasn't, so you have to interrupt your pre-race routine to get your chip the morning of the race, and then go to the start. There was not enough Gatorade on the course (every other water stop so about every 3-4 miles). Last year the race seemed better organized.

"What a beautiful run. Well organized - great job!" (about: 2007)

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 This my second time running the Rochester Marathon. I thought everything was well organized, a lot of water stops on the way, and lots of great cheering!!! I was a bit confused after I ran through the finish line, I couldn't find the bottled water, and bagel stand. It was great when I finally did. I had wished that the medallion would have been a different color this year, but all in all we could not have asked for a better day. Thank you to all of you who worked so hard to make this race a success.

"Fun Marathon" (about: 2007)
1 previous marathon
| 1 Rochester Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 A pretty flat course, but a little too much was along the canal. Lots of water stops and the crowd was very supportive. The massage at the end was also awesome. |
