COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I am a native Licolnite, although I now live in the east. I have run the Lincoln Marathon 3 times and it is a great little marathon. Unlike Omaha where there are long stretches of nothingness with no fans, here there are fans at every turn. Only one small hill at mile 20. Where I run now has little wind, so the wind on Capital Parkway for miles 22-26 can be tough. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I came from Chicago to run the 2007 marathon due to good reviews by runners from previous years. The good reviews were correct. Even though the weather was rainy, the race organizers', spectators' and runners' enthusiasm was not diminished. The registration fee was a bargain and included the night-before pasta dinner, post-race meal, a techical T-shirt and a cotton finisher T-shirt. The aid stations were plentiful and I loved the cups with lids and straws. If you're 50+, be sure to go to the Sat. luncheon where you will meet some very sociable people. The course was fairly scenic and flat. I plan on coming back in 2008. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 It was a thrill to complete the full Lincoln Marathon for the 13th year in a row. I was excited about receiving my Lucky Thirteen Club award. The jacket was nice. I had family with me for the award reception, but the long wait, and additional discovery of a lack of communications between awards staffers concerning the jackets and presenters was disheartening. After waiting a long time, and having staffers dig through a box for my jacket, I had to leave, and missed the Lucky Thirteen Group photo op. at the end. I may not be back next year. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 I ran the half marathon. The organization of all aspects of the event was excellent and the overall value was exceptional. For a very reasonable race entry fee, one also received entry into the pasta dinner and post-race party (both included the runner, family and friends), and a high-quality technical shirt, plus a finisher's shirt. The course was well marked and there were frequent fluid stations. I have run over 700 races and this was the first one were the fluid cups had lids and straws. This was a nuisance and created more clutter on the road. An open cup is much better. Some of the many good points include: plenty of free and convenient parking; friendliness of all of the volunteers; availability of indoor facilities before and after the race; easy recovery of checked gear; and plenty of toilet facilities. The weather (50s and rain) was perfect for me (especially with a tailwind for the second half of the HM). I anticipated crowded conditions at the bike path but it was not a problem when I went through that area. I really enjoyed the entire program. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I would like to thank everyone involved with the Lincoln Marathon. I would especially like to thank the Lincoln Police Dept. for a fine job of traffic control. My only change for the marathon is to start the full marathoners at 7:00 and the half marathoners at 7:30. This would alleviate any congestion on the course. Thanks again for a great run! | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 The course is great, overall very flat. I live in Omaha and drove to Lincoln to run this and it was a breeze (considering how hilly Omaha is). Now, I have nothing really to compare it with, since this was my first race of any sort. I will probably do it again next year. My only complaint is there a 2-mile strip where it is only sidewalk width, so it makes it very hard to go past other racers. Overall, it was a very good first experience. | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Ran for Team Hawaii at this years Lincoln National Guard Marathon and despite the weather the crowds were spectacular - always cheering us on it was like they also had the ALOHA spirit!! Aid stations were well stocked and I really loved the cups with lids and straws!! Start and finish line was well organized. Loved the post race massage!! And the medal and shirt were very nice!! | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 I liked most elements of the marathon; but there were a few I did not like. I know that the staff worked very hard along with the volunteers to make the marathon successful. I agree with others that the expo was so crowded that I could hardly wait to get out of the area. The pasta dinner was fair. The organization of the marathon was excellent. Of 48 marathons I have run, I would rate only New York City and Boston as better as far as spectators. It is amazing how few spectators that there are at most marathons that I have run. The volunteers, policemen and guardsmen made the run more pleasurable. As someone mentioned, the straws for the cups of sports drink were great along the way. The post-race luncheon was delicious. I did not understand if the names of the age group runners were to be announced. When I asked, I was ignored. Then I observed that people were lining up at a table to receive their awards individually. If this was all of the recognition of the age group winners, I think that part could be improved. We worked really hard to be in the top three in our age group. If one needs a Nebraska marathon for the 50 states, I would recommend Lincoln. However, I would not suggest making a special trip to Lincoln just to run the marathon for fun. | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 Having gone to school in Lincoln, I wanted to run this marathon and I am glad that I did. Other than concerns about the weather (just prior to the race there was lightning in the area), we lucked out and the storm moved through with only a slight rain for the beginning of the race. The positives included the organization, the free meal on Saturday night, easy parking and access to the start/finish line, pretty decent crowd support (even with the lousy weather, 2 nice shirts,flat course, and the cups with lids and straws. There are probably more, but these are the most significant. The only concern is that with the number of half and full runners (a little over 5000), the bike path between miles 6 and 8 can get a little crowded. If they do not limit the number of runners this could become a negative. However, this year it did not hinder my performance at all. In addition, the early entry fee was only $50. I would recommend this as a nice spring marathon. I don't know what the hotels were like, as I stayed with family in the area. I will probably do this one again. | |

COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 3 FANS: 3 Although this was my first Marathon...there were a few items this race could improve on. One is, the Gatorade was horrible, like it was mixed really badly. Although I ordered an extra large shirt, they didn't have any more. This is bad planning on their part. One runner in front of us, almost got hit by a vehicle rushing out in front. That was uncalled for. Other than that, the hospitality was great, medical staff were awesome and although the massage was a joke, it was free! |
