"Beautiful day" (about: 2013)

I've run four halfs, and this was by far the best organized race I've run. I never had a question that wasn't anticipated, and the course was beautiful. The community really made the event special though. There were spectators the entire route, encouraging those of us who weren't that fast. It was heart warming, and a just an honor to run. I drove 4+ hours for the race and will definitely do it again.

My only criticism of this hilly course is that there were way too many cones on streets that we were supposed to stay outside of causing the actual length of the marathon to balloon to 26.5 - 26.8 miles depending on how well you ran the rest of the tangents on the course. Running over 26.2 is to be expected, being diverted an extra half mile around countless curves needs to be changed in the future.

"Well run, great local support" (about: 2013)

I ran the Half and thought the race was well organized. I enjoyed it with a couple minor issues. 1) the course was nice, but there were a couple of odd turns - I'm sure to allow the start/finish in the same location, but that made for an unexpected layout. 2)Chips on my shoe? Seriously? Please use chips in the bib next year...

"Tough course, but awesome spectators" (about: 2013)

Course was described as flat and fast. I would beg to differ. Tough course with the last slap being a steep climb at the 25.9 mile mark. However, the race was well run with many spectators and great on course support.

"Great marathon with tons of local support" (about: 2013)

This race is run through a small town, on some larger roadways and through some portions of some forest preserves (on both paved and crushed limestone surfaces). The race features some beautiful prairie landscapes, lots of cheering spectators and many aid stations with medical and nutritional support. Signage and course conditions were great. Organization for this race was the best I have ever encountered. An abundance of warm bathrooms before and after the race, coupled with the many portable toilets made this a runner's bonus run. The food after the race was abundant and good - bananas, sandwiches, water, chocolate milk, bagels, etc. all in an enclosed tent. I can't even express in words how much I enjoyed this race. I felt like a winner every step of the way!

"Enjoyable suburban marathon" (about: 2013)

Nice race for the inaugural marathon. We'll organized, challenging course, nice city to run. 3500 runners, half and full marathon...nice medal and shirt. Some tight corners and some narrow paths may have to be altered if the race grows in size. Will run again next year. A good race to run after the Chicago Marathon if you enjoy running multiple marathons.

I ran the half marathon and the course was great. The cheer sections were a bunch of fun. Volunteers were great a long the way. The November date worked well. I hope you have the race next year.

I ran the half marathon. The course was well marked with ample and attentive volunteers to direct runners on the course. Volunteers at the first aid station did a great job of telling runners the next aid station was 3 miles down the course. Post race food was excellent! I liked all the healthy choices. Post race massage was very nice! Bring them back next year!

"Suprisingly challenging yet refreshingly familiar" (about: 2013)

For a first time marathon trying to please a city of 150K+ citizens, I think it went very well. I felt very secure on the course as vehicle traffic was not an issue with the incredible support of the NPD. As a resident of a neighborhood that was directly affected by the race path, I thought messages concerning road blocks and detours were appropriate and ample. My only suggestion for improvement would be more porta-potties visible on the course. They might have been out there (I saw them at 4.9) but otherwise they blended into the crowd. All said, I would rather receive a lower quality shirt and have more police/course support any day. I also prefer smaller, local-feel marathons and thought this fit the bill very well. It would be cool to run by Naper landmarks, through the historic district, or even past Naper Settlement, but maybe another year!

Naperville Marathon exceeded my expecations. The course was a lot tougher than I thought it would be. The layout however was great. The spectators were fantastic to be standing out in the cold and cheering us on... I am extremely proud to live in Naperville, the community is great and they wrap their arms around events like this... Thank you Naperville
