 "Good race" (about: 2002)
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 I am glad to see that the number of positive comments about this race. I made comments last year after the race that this was the best value-for-money race. I am glad to see that runners agree with me now. I really cannot understand why runners go to races like Chicago, NYC, Disney, etc, and pay $100 and get almost nothing - a cheap t-shirt and stale food. Buffalo gives you REAL value for your money!!! Does the average runner really care about these so-called elite runners and the money that is being spent on them??? I have done a lot of marathons and my advice to ALL runners is to go to Buffalo Marathon if you want real value. | |

 "Buffalo 2003 Could not have been better" (about: 2003)
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 2 Thank you, Buffalo, for hosting such a great marathon. The weather was beautiful amidst 3 days of rain. The course was flat and well laid out. With the exception of a few crossing points in the course, I was impressed with the scenic roads and nice shady trees. What a way to see Buffalo. Anyone considering a spring marathon, come to Buffalo! This was my first full marathon and the Nissan 2003 made it all worthwhile. Great course with a good amount of water stops and porto-johns! The run in the cemetery on Memorial Day weekend was inspiring. Also if Bill Gleason is reading (running partner for the second half of the race), I owe you a beer. Email me at jamey@strauch.net! | |

 "THUMBS UP - will run it again ! " (about: 2003)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 3 I can recommend this marathon. I have done a few others (NYC, Vermont, Vancouver) and this one compares well. The course is flat and scenic, and the water stops were well staffed. I had some trouble with the lack of shade the last 7 miles as it warmed up, but there was a nice breeze that helped. One downside is that there are a fair number of turns in the second half of the race. | |

"I really enjoyed this marathon." (about: 2003)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 This was the smallest marathon I've ever run (which I liked very much) and the things that impressed me the most were the spectators and the volunteers. They were all along the course, clapping and cheering for everyone. I had read about bad traffic control in previous years, but it was certainly taken care of this year. There were plenty of water stations. The plastic cups at the earlier stations made it a little hard to drink, and I'm not a big fan of RED powerade (that red on our shirts has got to convince some spectators that we're dying and that they should never run a marathon). But these were minor problems. The weather was close to perfect and the pasta dinner was excellent. The course had just enough ups and downs to make it interesting. My husband ran the 1/2 marathon and really appreciated having the mile markers for their race. That doesn't always happen when a 1/2 is part of a full marathon. All in all, a wonderful race. I thought I might just run it once, but I'm now seriously thinking about coming back and running it again next year. | |

"'You nailed it, John!!!!!!'" (about: 2003)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 This was my 6th Buffalo Marathon in a row. I can honestly say that after last year's disappointment, John B. and his crew really 'slam-dunked' it this year. It was by far the most beautiful course I have ever run in Buffalo. The traffic control was great, the volunteers were fantastic, and the party was excellent. John and his people have encouraged me to keep my streak alive and come back yet another year to do Buffalo. Thanks John. It was a real treat this year. 5 stars!!! - Rick Ruth, Williamsville | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 Nice job Buffalo, and nice job John. This was my 8th marathon and for what you got for the money, it can't be beat. I was fortunate to run some of the miles with a runner (Al from Buffalo) who gave me historical insight in to the sights. This was truly appreciated, and for me was my marathon moment. The course was flat as advertised (no big rollers). The weather was a ten: some sun, shade, and a nice breeze. If you want fans, go to Disney or NYC. If you want a nice friendly course, easy access to the start and finish of the marathon from the host hotel, great marathon organization, and value for your money, go to Buffalo. | |

"Great, well organized race" (about: 2003)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 This was my 97th marathon, and it was one of my most enjoyable. The course is flat and scenic, running through a beautiful cemetery, park, and suburban neighborhoods - all with ample water stops . The volunteers were great, traffic control was excellent, and going by Niagra Square and City Hall just before the finish was really nice. For a $30 entry fee, you get an all you can eat pasta dinner, long sleeve t-shirt, nice finisher's medal, excellent post-race party with more food and beer, and a chance to run a very well organized marathon - thanks to a great bunch of volunteers that made this race possible. This is 'The-Most-Bang-For-Your-Buck-North-American Marathon'. | |

"Great half-marathon course!" (about: 2003)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 3 The 1/2 was well organized and the course was excellent. One small hill at 10.5 but the last 2 are essentially downhill or flat. Quiet but courteous spectators and no traffic issues on my run. Only improvement would be to have the post-race party closer to the finish. Nice job John (and all the volunteers)!!! | |

"Way to go, Buffalo" (about: 2003)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 With today's $75.00+ entry fees, the Nissan Buffalo Marathon is not only a bargain, but a race that does a lot of things well... nice flat course, free pasta dinner, accommodating and convenient host hotel, numerous aid stations, and great traffic control. |
