 "Overall great, but disappointing after finish" (about: 2004)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 This was my 2nd year here. The course seemed hillier, but they moved the difficult bridges to the earlier part of the race. The spectators are so supportive and well-spread out throughout the whole course. After finishing, the chute is too small and you move through slowly. They ran out of food at the table after finishing AND ran out of Mylar blankets. I was freezing and after 10 minutes took one out of a trash can before I found a fresh one later on in an obscure corner of the park where there was more food for runners. They need more signs directing runners where to go and some way to move us through faster. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Wow! The organization of this race is tremendous! It seems like the entire city gets involved. There are water/Gatorade stations and split times at every mile marker. The volunteers and spectators are very enthusiastic and offer tons of support and encouragement. Special thanks to those located at miles 20+ offering candy, and also to the police officer/drill sergeant who was belting out 'It's all downhill from here! You can do this aallll day long!' The goodies (including a spectacular backpack, finisher's t-shirt, and poster) are incredible, and the Flying Pig finisher's medal is by far my favorite. The course is hilly but very well laid out, and if a slow moving Texan training on flat terrain can do it, so can you! Don't miss this one! | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was put on very well. The course was great and the volunteers did an excellent job. The only change I would make would be a better-marked area for families and friends to find the runners after the race. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was the first time I have particiapted in the Flying Pig, but it will not be the last. This was a wonderful event... well organized, a lot of free goodies, super-duper fans, and a beautiful course. Contrary to the hype, the hills are not that bad, and the worst of them are early in the race when you still have fresh legs... I set a PR, beating my prior time by over 30 minutes. The only problem with th event was the rain, but you have to expect this possiblity during a spring marathon. In spite of the weather, the cheering fans and on-course entertainment were terrific, often humerous, and very uplifting... I can only imagine how it may have been if the weather was better. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This race is so great with the overall organization, crowd support, volunteers, course layout and runners 'goodies' that - even though it was a chilly, rainy day today (2004) - it was a ton of fun, and I highly recommend putting this marathon on anyone's 'to do' list! The course change this year was great (especially getting the bridges to and from Kentucky done with early). I liked that it was flat or downhill for the second half of the race. Not to be missed!!!! | |

"Can't Get Enough Of This Mararthon!!!" (about: 2003)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Spectators, spectators, and more spectators. This is a first-class event, televised live on local television, bands of variety along the course, including a barbershop quartet at around the 9 mile point. The community embraces this event, lots of hoopla, and a very cool finisher's medal. The course is challenging with hills on the first half, but redeems itself on the second half (mile 11 thru 14 downhill). Great scenery and great traffic protection by Cincinnati's finest. Was able to watch the Bengals spring practice while crossing the bridge over the Ohio towards Kentucky (22 mile point). This is a 5-star experience, this is one marathon not to miss!!! | |

"Great race, loads of fun" (about: 2003)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I did the 1/2 marathon relay and I found the race very well organized (and the weather could not have been better). The city really gets behind the runners and gives wonderful support. We came from Whitby, Ontario, Canada and have highly recommended it to all our friends. I will one day be back to do the full marathon. Loved the medal. | |

"Great Race" (about: 2003)
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Great organization, support, freebies. The course and weather were beautiful. Had a little trouble with the bridge crossings at the end of the race, but it was also my first marathon. I agree that the finisher's area was very crowded. Difficult to get to food and drinks. Overall, a great experience. I would highly recommend it. | |

"What an incredible race... " (about: 2003)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 The course is beautiful and crowd support is spectacular. The weather was perfect too, even though you can't control that. It was definitely an uplifting, moving experience for me, being my first marathon. There were people cheering you on all along the course. I loved all the motivational signs too. My two favorites were 'I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me' and 'Pain is temporary - Pride is Forever'. Thanks to my wife Shelly for motivating me to run this race. I could not have done it with your love and support. I love you and look forward to a life of running with you. You are the best... | |

"Another Great Pig" (about: 2003)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 My second Flying Pig - I also ran in 2002. The course was much better this year - they cut out the narrow start and the industrial areas at the end. The course winds through some of Cincinnati's nicest neighborhoods. The hills are over-rated - for the most part, it's a flat course. You get your money back in terms of gifts - TWO shirts, a great medal, a poster and a nice embroidered duffel bag. My only suggestion is a larger 'runners' area' after the race. |
