"Very well organized" (about: 2006)

If you want a 2,000 participant "show," this ain't it. If you want to run in a well run marathon over a relatively easy course with little or no traffic and mix with runners of all abilities, then this is it. MTC's races are the best around. Good job.

"Great weather, well marked, great people." (about: 2006)

Level hills - slight cross wind. Trees, trees and more trees. Really nice people. Nice price, a simple finisher shirt (I will wear it), dated finisher medal. Shaved two minutes off my PR - I was not very well trained for it and should have done poorly.

"No Complaints" (about: 2005)

Marathon was on a level, out-and-back on the Natchez Trace Parkway. A few inclines and declines on the overpasses but almost not worth mentioning. Weather was perfect. A little headwind on the back half, but the trees blocked most of it. Extra points for the large, white mile markers. It made it easier to pace each mile. Plenty of food and drinks at the finish.

"Good, Small Marathon" (about: 2005)

4-5 previous marathons | 1 Mississippi Marathon

Good weather combined with a relatively flat & simple course equals a nice opportunity for a fast time. Volunteers from MTC, as always, were very supportive & helpful.

Only one suggestion: more port-a-johns at the start.

"Great Volunteers on the Course" (about: 2005)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Mississippi Marathon

Flawlessly organized race. I can sum it up with one example. At the water stop at mile 18 I screwed up the handoff and dropped the cup. I was prepared to go on to the next stop - not too big of a deal - but the volunteer called out to ask me what it was I was drinking, and CHASED ME DOWN TO DELIVER THE GATORADE. Pizza at the end was also a nice touch.

"Nice, well-organized race" (about: 2005)

This race was well-organized and the MTC volunteers were helpful and friendly. Although the crowd support was limited because of the location of the race, there were at least 3 people at each of the aid stations. Because it was an out and back course, the runners were able to encourage each other as we passed.

"Nice Small Marathon" (about: 2004)

Organization was flawless. You will be spending a fair amount of time running alone but the scenery is nice and no hills to speak of. I think for a small marathon you can't go wrong here.

"Nice run in the country... Great value!" (about: 2004)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 2

This is a very nice run over a newly black-topped road. Grades (no real hills) were long and gradual. it is a straight out-and-back with few distractions, so if you can stay focused, you could set a good time. Well staffed and stocked water stations every two miles with an extra one around mile 25 at the end. Not many spectators, but it is on a National Parkway. A good medal, shirt, gloves and snacks at the end for $20 (pre-registered). You can hardly run a 5K for that price! Great job by the MTC in hosting this event.

R. J. from Kansas (3/31/2003)
"Great marathon except timing problems at the end." (General Comments)

COURSE: 3  ORGANIZATION: 3  FANS: 3

Volunteers had trouble with who started early and who did not. Just for the record, please correct my time from a 3:52 to a 4:52. The marathon itself was good - water stops were wonderful and the southern hospitality great. Thanks again.

"Great volunteers, well staffed water stops." (about: 2003)

COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 2

Scenic flat out and back course. Good traffic control (thank you Park Rangers). Unusually cold weather this year but managed a good finish for marathon # 30. Not many spectators but the enthusiastic volunteers at the water stops made up for it. For visitors there are several hotels, food and a movie theater 2 miles from the starting line. Well staffed and well stocked water stops. Only negative comment is that there are no results posted yet (3 weeks post-race). I did receive my age group award in the mail--thank you Jim. For a small, low key winter marathon don't pass this one by.
