"A great intro to trail running" (about: 2012)

| 1 Keyes Peak Trail Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 1 I did the associated 50km but the course only differs in that there was a 5 mile loop added for the ultra. This was my first experience with a wilderness-type run and I loved it. Somehow the distance was not an issue due to constant changes of terrain and elevation. There was a wonderful river crossing that you could swim or wade. The cold water was very welcome so I ducked right under. Great volunteers, easy logistics, unique medal, decent tech shirts and pot-race massage($). Rumor only but there was talk that some runners skipped a short out-back section on the 50km. If true, it could be easily stopped if the volunteers at the turn noted bib numbers. Hope it's not true. Try it, you'll like it! |
