"Tough, challenging course" (about: 2012)

| 1 Grand Ridge Marathon
COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 I ran it in 2012. The race was well organized and the aid station was managed well. The volunteers were very friendly. The course is very challenging with a lot of climbing and descending (my garmin data can be viewed at: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/244720688 The marathon is a double out and back, meaning you go out then back to the start (slightly different route to go back), then you go out again and back again. A couple of things I would point out for anyone considering running it: 1.) My Garmin came up to almost 28 miles. 2.) You should plan to be self sufficient. There is one aid station that you pass 4 times, and there was water at the turn around (the water was gone when I got there the 2nd time). Something like an Amphipod bottle, gels and Succeed S!caps are recommended. The finish area was well stocked with tasty stuff. |
