NIKE need do better on their website. It's very difficult to find information and updates, and I guess the only way is to read the blogs. Great race, but very challenging and hilly.

I felt like they were selling something to me on every single corner. It was super crowded with way too many runners. I've run the course before, and my time was over an hour slower due to the congestion. The race organizers were very business-oriented rather than supportive.

I love this race. I've done all but the second year. Nike does a good job but... can the walkers start earlier or can you corral the runners by their pace??? Nothing irks me more than having to zig-zag around five-across walkers for five miles!!!

And the website... ugh! Can we just simplify? Too much fluff. I'd like to go and get questions answered... period. Where are the results? Where do I find the photos?

I'll do it again next year. But I hope that Nike reads this.

This run was HARD but great! it was truly an experience in challenging way; however, the perks of Niketown (shopping), the start atmosphere, the aid stations, the crowd, and the momentum of so many women in all sizes, colors and ages was wonderful. And when you come into the finish, there are the firemen in tuxedos giving the Tiffany necklace (not a medal). This marathon made you enjoy being in pain - like having a baby!

This is my first half marathon, through TNT. I loved the course, support and fans along the way. As I sprinted to the finish and crossed the line, I met a wall of people. The finisher's area was tight, and it was difficult to move through all of the people. While the finish village and line movement could have been better organized, it was a worthwhile, fun endeavor, and I would definitely run again.

"Great race" (about: 2009)

I've run the Nike Marathon every year since its inception in 2004. The race is not an athletic race by any means, with many first-timers and very slow finishes, but it is local for me and I love the course through San Francisco. The Tiffany necklace is a nice touch and the race t-shirts are always good.

Overall, the race organization is good - particularly helpful is the bag check organization this year, which is so much easier than in previous years.

The website is terrible; it's hard to find anything. As was the case last year, race results (including splits) are still not available more than 24 hours later, which is quite unbelievable, given the time chip tracking. Other races like Boston have athlete tracking real-time, so it should be possible to get the race results earlier.

As a local who has done several major SF races, I finally had to do this one.

Like others, I hated the Nike website, which made it very difficult to locate basic info regarding race logistics. I'm not a big user of Nike products either, so I found their product plugs to be annoying.

This is a challenging but beautiful course, held at a great time of year weather-wise for SF. Maybe I'm the only one, but I was never happier to see Lake Merced, for I knew that once we'd completed our lap around it we were headed for the finish.

The early miles are crowded, and I agree with others that walkers should start with their pace groups, although given the course time limits (and delays of up to 30 minutes to cross the start line), I sort of understand why some of them start with the wrong groups to get across the line faster.

If you are not a TNT participant, be prepared to be largely ignored by their coaches and cheer groups. In 26.2 miles, I had exactly one of their coaches acknowledge me with a high-five. The official race volunteers and cheer groups, however, who are mostly teens, are great.

The accomplishment of running my first marathon is beyond words. It started as a personal goal, but when I saw pictures of actual victims who have died from this disease, it changed my perspective. My body aches but it was worth the cause. I just wished there were fewer of the hills. I would do it again.

This was my fourth Nike Marathon, and a total of 20 marathons with Team In Training. I ran the first Nike, and this race course is a 1000% improvement. The current Nike is superb in all respects of a marathon course: scenery, challenging elevation, aid support, crowd support, traffic control. Great planning to get the hills behind you in the first half. And I think Lake Merced is cool. It's flat, usually foggy, and I can see the lake. SF, don't change a thing. Runners from out of state are treated to a feast of scenic beauty. This marathon is a jewel!!!!!!! GO TEAM!

"Beautiful, challenging half-marathon" (about: 2009)

What a beautiful course! Nike gets 5 stars for every aspect of the half-marathon (EXCEPT THEIR WEBSITE, WHICH IS A NOTORIOUS DISASTER). The course was beautiful, and well-designed with challenging hills but great downhill stretches as well. The only negative aspect of the course is that the first mile or so is very crowded, but that's typical of city races.
