This was my First Marathon and I honestly didn't know what to expect..........however, the club training runs did have me set up high expectations which, I must say were thoroughly met!!
The course was be-au-tiff- ulll..........it did get a little sad towards the lake (the heat and not that many aid stations). The overall organization, I thought was excellent.....especially finding sudden surprises of live bands, music playing- it was all fun!
All in all, I loved it and for sure will be looking out for the early bird registeration for NWM 2008!!!

My 2nd race - 1st 1/2 marathon. The expo was crowded, and it was hard to get answers. The 1/2 course was beautiful! The view from the hills was breathtaking. After all the comments, I will probably only do the 1/2 again.

I love this course, that being said, this is going to sound like sour grapes, but I was very disappointed this year.

This is the second time I've run Nike, and as a man I was one of only 900 male runners. Last year they had 15,000 runners, while this year they had 23,000. I don't mind running with that many runners, but with a 7am start, by the time my pace group crossed the starting line it was well past 7:20am. This is again no problem, until I got to the 30K mark where I was stopped by a Team In Training group who said that I had to turn around because there was a 5 hour time limit to get to 18.5 miles. When I told the TnT coach that I had actually crossed the start over 20 minutes late, he made a rude comment and told me to turn around and continue on, and I run for the Team! Based on my chip time I still had well over 15 minutes. So my race ended up being 22 miles instead of 26.2. Now, I know the city has to open up at some point, but if you are going to add 8 thousand more runners you need to make an adjustment.

Also my girlfriend bought a shuttle pass to take her to 2 locations and the finish, and she had to argue with the driver to take her to the 13.1 mile mark which was the second stop on the schedule. So, although I love this race I was very disappointed.

This is the 3rd year my daughters and I have run in the Nike race. This was the most organized year, and the best year ever. People keep saying this was a TNT thing; they are wrong - this was a WOMEN'S THING. I hope to do this every year.

The course has breathtaking views, mile after mile. Plenty of water/Gatorade, and great fans. I will definitely do this event again.

Thoroughly enjoyed myself. Being part of TEAM in Training was very positive for me!

Good times to be had b7 all; however, I was very disappointed by the lack of music this year, the bathrooms (or lack thereof), the fact that they ran out of oranges and water, the TINY shirts, and the super short necklace. Who runs out of water during a race???

I feel very bad for a lot of the runners who were motivated to complete this race; some of them are a little chubbier and NONE of the after-race prizes fit them.

It is a TNT event, so it makes sense that so many people are all about "GO TEAM," but come on, open up more bibs for other people!!!

It is a great race for fun times with friends, and overall a great time!!!!

"Full vs. Half" (about: 2007)

Starting the half and full marathoners together was a disaster. As a full marathon runner, I need space to get into my pace and with so many walkers and half runners; I could not find it until the split (nearly mile 11) and was very tired of saying, "Excuse me" on this somewhat narrow path at times. This was very disappointing after spending over 5 months training. TNT drove me crazy, but I applaud their abilities to raise money. There should have been different designs of sweatshirts, race finisher shirts and necklace, depending on which run you participated in. I ran 26.2 miles and got the same as a walker for 13.1? Hmm? Extremely disappointing, Nike. Also, what is up with spectators eating and drinking at the finish? Isn't that for participants only? Lame.... Oh yeah, you might as well call it the TNT Marathon next year.

This is my second year running this race. I want to come back because I love San Fran. and I love to run, but the TNT people made up the overwhelming majority of runners/walkers. Great cause, but not everyone is running their first marathon. Whose idea was it to put the porta-johns right in front of the gear-check buses" How could they not anticipate that bottleneck?! Still, a gorgeous course so I'm tempted to come back and hope that Nike pays attention to details. You know how many people registered. Why not have enough of everything??

I ran the half marathon. I mainly want to comment on the expo and goody bag. I have run 17 marathons and at least 5 1/2 marathons. I suppose I was expecting more since this was a "women's" marathon. I've run smaller races and have gotten better goody bags. I would have thought they would have gotten some items that were geared toward women. Having to get a large shirt after finishing was a little disturbing. What a way to make a woman feel good! Haha.
